Lifting Our Communities, One Brick at a Time

In the heart of Los Angeles, EPU teamed up with the grassroots organization Sisters of Watts, Compton VFW members, and a passionate team of volunteers for a two-day revitalization project focused on service, unity, and hope.

Over March 6th and 7th, we joined hands to renovate a local youth center and basketball court, transforming the space into a vibrant, welcoming environment for the kids and families who call this neighborhood home.

Service in Action

From the crack of dawn to sunset, volunteers worked side by side to clean, paint, and rebuild vital areas of the center. Veterans in EPU gear laid down paintbrushes next to teenagers planting flowers. Community elders guided younger volunteers, offering wisdom between laughter and high-fives.

The hum of drills, the sweep of paint rollers, and the rhythm of teamwork echoed throughout the project—reminding us that service isn’t just about what gets built, but how it brings people together.

“What Will This Court Mean to a Kid?”

While the basketball court was resurfaced and fresh paint lit up the walls, the real transformation was happening between people.

EPU ambassador Miguel spoke with veterans and volunteers throughout the day, reflecting on how this project wasn’t just about infrastructure—it was about inspiration.

“We’re not just painting walls—we’re painting a future. What we build today is what the next generation will stand on tomorrow.”

Why We Serve

Events like this underscore why EPU exists. We believe that service is strength, and that building community means rolling up your sleeves and getting involved.

The Sisters of Watts brought their vision and heart. Our veterans brought discipline and pride. The youth brought energy and excitement. Together, we created a renewed space that will uplift generations to come.

Out of Many, One.

Through this event, we saw firsthand how collective effort creates lasting change. From the newly polished basketball court to the smiling faces of local kids peeking through the fence, the results were immediate—and unforgettable.

Your support makes this possible. Every EPU purchase helps fund projects like this one—where purpose meets action, and community is always at the center.
